Dr. Doug Rains is the owner and founder of Faithful Friend Animal Clinic. He studied Prevet medicine and range management at Utah State University, a (Arizona State) Masters in environmental ecology and finally a (WAZOO) Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. His compassion and devotion to his calling makes him very happy to be a member of the Bozeman community where the folks really love their animals. When not in the clinic he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking and spending time with his dogs Slinky (the dachsund) and Bob Barker( the labrador ).
Dr. Scott Baumgardner
Dr. Baumgardner joined the practice in November of 2010. Born in Ohio, he proudly graduated from The Ohio State Univerisity in 1995 with a bachelor of science in Microbiology and again in 1999 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating he practice for a year in South Lake Tahoe before moving on to Montrose Colorado where he and his wife owned their own practice for 6 years.
Over the last 12 years Dr. Scott has been taking extensive course in continuing education. His primary interests include surgery both orthopedic ( acl repairs, TPLO procedure, fracture repair, etc) and soft tissue ( tumor excision, skin grafts, PDA ligation, GDV etc) and dentistry. Recently he has finished several courses on advance dentistry including restorative techniques.
Dr. Scott has a 14 1/2 year old australian shepherd named "Sloopy" who has been with him since she was a puppy. Together they enjoy hiking, cross country skiing and spending time with their family. Dr. Scott also enjoys down hill skiing and biking in his spare time

Dr. Jennifer Baumgardner joined the practice in November of 2011 with her husband. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1994 with a degree in Zoology. She proceeded to Ohio State Univeristy where she recieved her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
Her primary interests lie in ultrasonagraphy ( with many extensive hours of continuing education) emergency medicine and pediatrics. During the last 13 years she has worked in the ER, managed a practice and accumulated many hours of intensive care work.
In her spare time when she is not taking care of her 3 kids she enjoys biking, hiking, skiing and running.

Kari has worked at Faithful Friends Animal Clinic since December of 2003. She grew up on a ranch in north eastern Montana. She came to Bozeman and recieved a bachelor's of science in animal science in 2003. Currently Kari is pursuing a Nursing degree at Montana State University. She has a 4 year old pug named Peter and in her spare time she enjoys horseback riding and the outdoors.
Katie Elzinga
Katie joined our practice early in December of 2012. She grew up in Vermont and moved to Salmon, Idaho at the age of 16. After finishing high school, she attended Idaho State University and graduated with a bachelor's of science in zoology in 2005. She worked 2 more years as a seasonal for the Bureau of Land Management and decided to pursue her dream of working and caring for animals. She received her first job working as a veterinary assistant in Pocatello, then moved on to Billings, Montana to further her experience and, presently, is here at Faithful Friend's where she enjoys assisting with all the surgical procedures and getting to know people and their pets. She currently attends Penn Foster College to become a credentialed veterinary technician. Katie has an 8 year old Australian Shepherd Mix named "Abby." Together, they enjoy many outdoor activities, including hiking/backpacking, biking, skiing, running and birdwatching.

Kim is one of our wonderul receptionists and is a Bozeman native. She joined us this past summer and greatly improved our clinic with her wonderful smile that greets clients as you enter the door. She is an alumni of the Univeristy of Montana with a degree in physical therapy and in her spare time enjoys competing in rodeos, going to horse races and other outdoor activities.
Recently she has added "Salinas" a beautiful Australian Sheperd puppy to her family.

Leah
Leah came to Faithful Friends in November of 2011. She grew up in North-Eastern Montana, near the Canadian line. After high school, Leah attended Eastern Wyoming College and graduated in May of 2011 with an associates of applied science in Veterinary Technology. She is now pursuing a degree at Montana State in Animal Science. Leah hopes to get back into raising sheep in the future. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, her dog Copper, being outdoors, yoga, cooking, and singing.
